Fear is one of the biggest productivity stoppers. Often we put off those tasks on our to do list that we feel uncomfortable doing. When I was in marketing, the phone was my biggest fear. I would scrape gum off the bottom of desks before I would grab the phone to call prospects. I eventually adapted my marketing to eliminate the phone entirely, but it was one of those things that hurt my business for a long time.
What is it that keeps an item undone on your list? Do you hesitate to clean out the attic because of the spiders? Are you avoiding the grocery shopping because you hate being around people? These are legitimate fears, yet they can be overcome with bug spray and baby steps (make sure you don’t mix them up, because the people at Walmart do not appreciate having bug spray on them). Sometimes, just talking it out with someone you trust can help you beat those fears. Other times, you can delegate the tasks to someone who excels at those things – I know people who love being around spiders and the people at Walmart.
The first step to any resolution of your to do list fears is figuring out the underlying fear. If you are afraid of what you will find, then I have no answer for that…lol.
Only the shadow knows.
